Entrevista com Jamie Choi
Oi todo mundo!!!
Hoje vamos conhecer um pouco da história da nossa patrocinadora do mês, a talentosa Jamie Choi do blog Three Paper Peonies!!!
My name is Jaime Choi and I am a 33 year-old mother, elementary school teacher, newbie digital designer, and a partner with my sisters in our own floral/stationery company. I have lived all my life in Los Angeles, CA and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
1) Fale-nos sobre você: nome, idade, local de nascimento etc.
Meu nome é Jamie Choi, tenho 33 anos, sou mãe, professora de educação infantil, novata no design digital e sócia de minhas irmãs na nossa loja de flores/papelaria. Vivi a minha vida inteira em Los Angeles, Califórnia e não me imagino vivendo em outro lugar.
2) How did you discover digital scrapbooking?
I happened to be surfing the web looking for ways to redesign a blog that I had when I stumbled upon a digital scrapbooking site. Until then, I didn’t even know that such a thing existed, but I was instantly hooked. I had been a traditional scrapper but since the birth of my son 3 years ago, it was really hard to find time to pull out all my scrapbooking materials and scrap. I LOVE the fact that digital scrapbooking is a no-mess kind of craft =)
2) Como você descobriu o scrapbooking digital?
Estava surfando pela internet procurando alguma coisa para repaginar um blog que eu tinha quando me deparei com um site de scrapbooking digital. Até então eu não sabia que tal coisa existia, mas fiquei gamada imediatamente. Eu fazia scrap tradicional, mas desde que meu filho nasceu 3 anos atrás, estava sendo difícil achar tempo para me dedicar aos meus materiais de scrapbooking e aos scraps. Eu AMO o fato de que o scrapbooking digital é uma forma de arte sem bagunça =)
3) Who were your influences?
My three favorite digital designers are TaylorMade, Fei Fei’s Stuff, and Paislee Press. I love all three of their styles and the fact that everything they design can be used in so many different layouts, in so many different ways. When you use one of their kits you really feel like you get a ton of usage out of it. I am also influenced by illustrators like Helen Dardik and Carolyn Gavin. Their designs are so creative and whimsical. Every time I look at their work I am inspired to doodle and reconnect with my creative soul.
3) Quais foram suas influências?
Minhas três designers favoritas são TaylorMade, Fei Fei’s Stuff e Paislee Press. Adoro o estilo das três e o fato de que tudo que elas fazem pode ser usado em vários tipos diferentes de layouts, de diversas maneiras. Quando se usa um kit delas você realmente sente que tem um monte de coisas usáveis ali. Eu também me influemcio por ilustradoras como Helen Dardik e Caroline Gavin. O design delas é muito criativo e whimsical. Toda vez que eu vejo os trabalhos delas eu me inspiro a rabiscar e me reconectar com a minha alma criativa.
4) When you started designing?
I started designing this past June as soon as school let out and my vacation began. I made it my mission to learn as much as I could about designing and develop my skills. My entire summer was spent in front of a monitor =)…and playing with my son, of course.
4) Quando você começou a criar?
Eu comecei a criar em Junho último quando as aulas acabaram e começaram minhas férias. Fiz disso minha issão de aprender o máximo qe podia sobre design e desenvolver minhas habilidades. Passei meu verão inteiro na frente do monitor =)… e brincando com meu filho, é claro.
5) What inspires you?
Color is always the first thing to catch my eye about something. Seeing colors around me is what inspires me to start designing a kit. Many times I have been working with my sisters on someone’s wedding florals and have gotten inspired by the colors of the flowers to start a kit. Mother Nature makes some of the best color palettes.
5) O que te inspira?
Cor é sempre a primeira que eu vejo em alguma coisa. Ver as cores ao meu redor me inspiram a começar a criar um kit. Às vezes eu estou trabalhando com minhas irmãs em algum arranjo floral para casamentos e me inspiro nas cores das flores para começar a criar. A Mãe Natureza faz algumas das melhores paletas de cores.
6) Which is your favorite kit? And LO?
My favorite kit so far has been “School”. I love the color vintage inspired color palette and I had a lot of fun creating the elements. I feel like the kit brings out the elementary school child in me.
My favorite LO is entitled “Grandmother’s Love”. I used TaylorMade and Paislee Press’ collab kit “Est.” to create it. It captured a moment this summer when we took a vacation to the beach with my parents. My mom and Ethan (my son) had a wonderful time in the water together.
6) Qual seu kit favorito? E LO?
Meu kit favorito até agora foi o “School”. Adoro a paleta de cores vintage e me diverti muito criando os elementos. Senti que o kit troxe de volta a criança no jardim de infância que existe em mim.
Meu LO favorito é entitulado “Grandmother’s Love”. Usei o kit “Est.”, um collab de TaylorMade e Paislee Press. Capturou um momento no verão quando fomos à praia com meus pais. Minha mãe e Ethan (meu filho) tiveram um ótimo momento juntos na água.
